Modular building technology has achieved a new milestone with the recent completion and shipment of a unique boathouse project for the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
The project, built by CIMC Modular Building, consists of five steel modules each over 6 meters high—making it the largest and tallest single-module structure of its kind in Hong Kong's construction industry. It utilized innovative high-strength concrete to reduce slab thickness by 75%, solving complex transport and hoisting challenges.
Built using MiC (Modular Integrated Construction) technology, the modules were fully finished in the factory for "plug-and-play" on-site installation, minimizing campus disruption and showcasing the potential for high-end architectural applications.
